Faire Play

Sometimes, a Kiss isn’t just a kiss…

Once she dreamed of working at a Renaissance faire.

Now she can’t ever leave.

Heather revels in the attentions of the charming knight, Sebastian – until he gives her a magical kiss that turns her into an emotional vampire. Without the reactions of a live audience to feed on, Heather will become an empty husk. Unfortunately, Sebastian doesn’t mention that before he disappears.

While adjusting to her new life, Heather impresses the Court, befriends a knife-juggling cynic, and is cast as a fighter opposite Jocko, a handsome rogue whose cavalier attitude frustrates her almost as much as his kisses do.

Before she can decide whether to open her heart again, Sebastian returns with a dark plan. If Heather can’t stop him, he’ll overthrow the Court and turn the unsuspecting audience into mindless slaves – and Heather can kiss any future with Jocko goodbye.

So, she does what she does best.

Fight.

As soon as I saw the setting, I was sold. I’ve always wondered what transpired behind the scenes at a Renaissance Faire: what fantastic, private acts take place once the patrons go home? Ms. Kovar’s book answers that with the perfect combination of subtle magic and romantic suspense.  I really enjoyed the magical elements in the story: the Tribe, the Talents, the Kiss. I don’t want to spoil anything for those who’ve yet to read this, but I appreciated how unique this aspect was. It’s not often one see something this new and fresh, which again makes me hopeful for any subsequent books the author may write.   – D. Fifer

Sometimes an author toys with you, gives you a flash here or there to get you curious. This temptation starts as a slow tease and ends up curled in bed with you, it’s words wrapped in your hair, and having had its way with you, leaves you with a slow grin and a promise of more. Scrumptious. – Littledeer78

Witty dialog, sensual love scenes, romance, angst and a knife-throwing pixie! Such a fun read! I can’t wait for the is a sequel!   – Danika

Rebecca Kovar laments the loss of gloves and hats as social convention and the wearing of corsetry as a daily habit. She has been known to wield a wicked sword and a vicious red pen and is a champion of the proper use of commas.

Many years ago, she ran away and joined the next best thing to a circus, which taught her how to survive in almost any environment and made clear the importance of asking the right questions.

She likes her monsters monstrous, rather than angst-ridden, and doesn’t mind if they aren’t all that pretty. Given a choice between blood and treacle, she’ll pick blood every time.

She writes short, dark stories, longer urban fantasy, and the occasional steamy romance. She currently spends her days righting wrongs and her nights writing them.
